April 3 -18, 2009

The spring is always a busy time of year for us. This year is no different. Over this 15 day period I took close to 400 pictures, of course I am not going to bore you with all of them, but thought I would share a few of them. On Friday after the kids got out of school we went to a local farm here in town to pick strawberries. The kids brought 2 friends with them and we met some other friends up there. The kids love to pick strawberries and they always want me to make a red, white and blueberry pie.

After I made them stop picking, there was no way we could eat as many as they wanted to pick, the kids played on the swing while Todd and I paid for them.
After we brought them home and I got them all clean I made them their pie, except if you noticed there are no blueberries on top as I forgot to get some. They didn't care and said it still tasted great!

That weekend Dylan and Emily did a few arts and craft projects. Dylan had gotten a wooden bird feeder from Popsy and Mimi for his birthday that you paint and then put together so we did that and Dylan and Emily wanted to decorate shirts to wear to JT's baseball game that had a picture of them on it so they did that too.

That weekend on Saturday I took Dylan and Emily to another AVA volleyball clinic. They love going and so does JT usually, but he didn't feel like getting up this morning.

For the younger ones they have these "first touch" volleyballs which are soft and a great way to get them playing without having their arms get sore.

Dylan (in the grey shirt and light blue shorts) group plays with real volleyballs (I think)

Saturday night JT spent the night with a friend so he missed the fishing trip (and boy was he not happy), but Sunday Todd got up and took Dylan fishing with Popsy and Uncle Tyson. Todd did take my camera, but this was the only picture he took while they were out fishing. I guess I should be thankful that he at least took one.

That next week on Wednesday Emily's girl scout troop had an Easter egg hunt.

So did her school on Thursday. Emily is in the pink to the left:

They each got to find 10 eggs and then had to sit and wait for everyone else, after everyone got 10 there were more left and they got to get what was left. It was cute, but we had to hurry as it started to sprinkle.

Saturday before Easter Mimi and Popsy had us over and gave the kids their Easter baskets and hid eggs for them including this trick egg that was on the ground until the kids got close to it and then all of a sudden it flew up into the tree, JT had to jump to get it down.

Saturday evening Todds aunt and uncle had us over for dinner along with some of the kids cousins and they had an Easter egg hunt at their house too. Here are some of the Reynolds side of the family cousins.

Saturday night when we got home it was time to dye our eggs and make the Easter cookies:

The Easter cookies were neat. A friend gave the recipe along with the scripture you are suppose to read with each step of making the cookies. The boys took turns reading the scriptures and they all took turns following the recipe.

Then they all took turns dropping spoonfuls of the mix on the wax paper (it wasn't pretty, but it got the job done).

This was very neat and I tradition I hope to do every year with them (even though they wouldn't try them the next day when they were ready), but it got the message of the TRUE Easter across. If you haven't seen this email me and I will get you a recipe of it for you to do next Easter.
Then on Easter morning the Easter Bunny came by and left the kids baskets and lots of eggs to hunt.

The Easter Bunny brought the kids these cute little edible house to put together so the kids did this while I got some things done for the rest of the day.

We then had family over for a late Easter lunch. After lunch we played baseball and then cracked confetti eggs all over each other.

Since the kids were out of school on Monday we decided to go to the zoo with some friends. His daughter didn't go so Emily decided to stay and play with her cousins for the days so it was just all boys and then me. We fed the decks and played and it was a wonderful day.

The next weekend was suppose to be a super busy weekend. The boys were playing in a 3V3 soccer tournament, JT was playing in a baseball tournament, I had a baby shower and the kids had been invited to 2 birthday parties. I wasn't sure how we were going to get it all done, but mother nature had a different plan droping something like 6 inches of rain on us on Saturday. We did get 2 of the soccer games played though. In their age group there was only one other team registered and it was a girls team. That was alright though as they just wanted to play.

They even had a mens divison that Todd played in, well they only got to play 1 game before the down pour. Todd is in the orange shirt with yellow penny over it and black shorts. His team did good for their 1 game.

After we found out that the rest of the games had been cancelled we went back to the house and just listened to the rain. The boys had some friends over. We did get lots of rain, and why it didn't get near the house, the outskirts of our property were under water. It looked like a lake. This is the view out to the right of the back of our house off the balcony of the movie room:
Same balcony but out to the left side:

My sisters house is the white 2 story you see and Todds parents barn is the red building you see. We could have swam to either if we wanted to.
But once the rain let up some the kids couldn't wait to get out there and catch fish, frogs and lots and lots of crawfish. They stuck the crawfish, along with some dirt and water in the back of my little cart I pull behind my golfcart. They had so much fun and I think at last count they had close to 100 crawfish. Crawfish boil anyone?

The heavy rain and flooding just about knocked out my garden, we tried to save as much as we could, but not to sure we saved much and it didn't help that we got another really bad rain the Saturday after this.
That is all the pictures I have downloaded for now. I have close to 100 or so more from this past week of baseball games and the froniters day parade that the kids were in so once I get them downloaded I will get them posted.
Hope everyone in this area stayed dried after these last two rains. Have a great week!
