Corpus Christi

Todd has to go to Corpus to do rescue training on board the U.S.S. Lexington once a year for his work. They have almost always scheduled it in the beginning of summer which is nice so the kids and I can go with him. It becomes a mini family vacation. This year we went later than we have in the past, and boy it was much more crowded than we were use to. We still had a great time. Here is a picture of the boat that I took from off the top of the Texas State Aquarium. We didn't go on board and watch any of their training this year.

His company pays for a hotel right next to the boat, which is right on North Beach. As soon as we got there Monday, the kids wanted to go play in the sand:

The next day JT couldn't wait to get out there and start building, Dylan and Emily wanted to go swimming in the pool though:

After playing for a little bit JT and I joined the others at the pool:

Tuesday night we took the kids to watch a Corpus Christi Hooks game:

On Wednesday while Todd was at rescue class the kids and I went to the Texas State Aquarium:

On Wednesday night Todd and some of the guys he works with who were there training too met at the beach for a friendly game of football.

Thursday they got out of training early so us and 3 of the other families drove a little ways to a nicer beach. The water was clearer and no jellyfish and the sand was soft, it was very nice. The kids had fun playing in the water and Carlos (a guy from Todd's work) came across some sand dollars out in the ocean as well as some hermit crabs.

On the way back to the hotel everyone was starving and Mike (another guy Todd works with) knew where the Krispy Kreme was and when we drove by and saw this sign, we had to stop:

Nothing beats hot donuts! Yummy!

JT isn't a big donut person so we went and got him some McDonalds!

Friday morning we packed up and got ready to head out and since Todd was off that weekend we asked the kids if they wanted to go somewhere like South Padre, Austin or San Antonio and my little homebody kids said they were home sick and wanted to come home, so that is what we did. We had a great time, but I think they were exhausted! Can't wait to go back again next year.
