The weekend

Does the weekend ever end and you think to yourself "how in the world did I do so much in just one weekend?" Well I say that a lot. Todd had to work this weekend and as usual it was a very packed weekend. Saturday we had 3 basket ball games. They all did well. JT's team is the only age group (of my kids) that keep a score. They ended up losing by 2 points. It was an exciting game. I helped coach Emily's team and they did great (you aren't suppose to keep score, but I am sure they won as they made way more baskets than the other team). I also coach Dylan's team. They played well too, his game was a close one too. After Emily and Dylan's game in the morning we rushed back home to come to Popsy and Uncle Mikes Birthday party. Todd's cousin Lana and her two boys came in from out of town as did his cousin Michael with his wife Michelle and their two kids. The kids are all close in age so they had so much fun. We had barbque and yummy cake:

Here is my kids with Lana's two boys playing in a big box. All the toys in world and they like the box. They had so much fun with it, it did end up tearing, but they taped it back together

Here is Todd's cousin Michael taking Lila for a ride on the 4 wheeler

Ryan loved riding Uncle Steve's 4 wheeler with his grandpa, Uncle Mike (to us)

Here is Lana holding sweet little Maxwell

Uncle Steve got out his BB gun and the kids took turns shooting at the fake deer target. They were all pretty good shots:

My mom and dad came over to help us celebrate so JT and grandpa went outside to play catch with his new frisbee/boomerang toy:

JT loves his 4 wheeler and loves it more if someone will ride with him so Popsy got on Uncle Tysons 4 wheeler and rode with JT:

The two lone girls had a blast riding around in the jeep:

After the party we had to run to JT's basketball game and as soon as his game was over we were suppose to run to the boys indoor soccer game. The problem was during JT's game Dylan started crying that his ear was hurting, so after JT's game ended I tried to run Dylan over the the Redi clinic to see if he was getting an ear infection, but by the time we got there it was closed so I got him some Motrin and he started to feel better about 30minutes later. Hasn't complained anymore so maybe it was just the wind from being outside playing and riding the 4 wheelers. We never did make it to the soccer game, but did meet some friends at Cici's pizza for dinner.

Then on Sunday morning JT had an 8:00 AM (yes you heard me right) baseball game. Both JT and Dylan's select teams were playing in the same tournament. Well the team they were suppose to play at 8 didn't show up ( I don't blame them, it was cold and way too early) so we waited until 10:00 and played then again at 12:00. Dylan's team played at 10:30 and 12:00. JT and them lost both the 10 and 12 game, but Dylan and them won the first and lost the second. Not bad for a team that was just put together that week and had only had 3 practices. Here are some pictures from the tournament:

Wow, it was a great weekend, but it was over before I knew it. This weekend is almost just as busy. It was great spending time with family and hope we can do it more often. I hope Popsy and Uncle Mike as well as Sarah (we didn't get to see her on her birthday which was Saturday also) had wonderful birthdays!

3rd Grade!

Who knew it could be so stressful. Well not only has JT had benchmark test for the last two weeks, but he has also had to finish up his science fair project(plus all his regular work like spelling which one of his words is inauguration and sad, but true I only know how to spell that because it was on his list this week). For his project he decided to see which type of soil would grow the best flower. We learned that it is worth your money to buy Miracle Grow potting soil at least it is over just sand or plain top soil. Here are the flowers the first day he planted them:
Here they are on day 18. The Miracle grow ones are on the far right:
JT brought the information home on how this was suppose to be done in early December, well between me being sick, Christmas and JT having surgery I kind of forgot how it was suppose to be done. I knew he had to journal it so I was having him right down every time he watered it and how much water he gave them and if it rained and the observations that he made and the measurements. The problem is I didn't look to see how the journal was suppose to be put together once we started so he had to go back and rewrite a lot of it:

Then on Sunday he decided to get started on his back board. We used my Cricut to cut out his title and a picture of pots and flowers and I printed out some of the pictures we took:

He decided he wanted to finish it all on Sunday so we were up to about 2:00 in the morning getting the whole thing done. He wouldn't let me type up the info for the backboard, he said the teacher said that parents were not to help unless it was with something dangerous and anyone who knows JT well knows he will not brake a rule unless it was one said by me or dad, well I wasn't about to stay up all night while he chicken pecked out all his notes, so we copied his notes from his journal and printed them out and glued them to the backboard. I just hope he doesn't get counted off for neatness:
I am so glad this is over at least until next year. You would have thought I would have this down after having to do it last year too when he was in 2nd grade. I don't get why they have to do this, when I was in school it was optional, but he has to do it or take a zero for a grade. Oh well, its done now I'll try to quit gripping.

Updates

I just posted a bunch of updates. Sorry I am so late and there are so many at once. If you feel like reading or even just looking through the pictures you will have to scroll all the way to the bottom and click on older post to see all the new ones. Thanks for looking and have a blessed day!

Texas snow ball fight!

What is this you may ask, well Emily's kindergarten class has been learning about weather. So to finish off this section on weather they get to have a Texas snow ball fight. As you know it doesn't snow here often enough to have a real one so they ask the kids parents to send one bag of large marshmallows and they go outside and have a great time. Today was they day they had waited for all week. Here is some of Emily's class coming outside:

They all lined up with their hands cupped ready to receive their snow balls:

Then the war was on:

Here is Emily gathering hers to go after someone:

After about 20 minutes of chasing each other, they all helped clean up and then went back to class:

Just in case you are worried that some one might get hurt, they were told to throw underhanded and at the body not the face and even for the kids who didn't listen and nailed me and others with a hard over hand (even got one or two to the head) it didn't hurt.

Dylan's project

Dylan is in the dual language program at his school. There are only 2 schools in our district that offer this program. Well his 1st grade class can have video conferencing with the other 1st grade dual language class. So each class divided their kids up into groups and each group did a research project on a different animal. They made a chart about their animal and then had to put on some type of skit to inform their class and the other class (watching through the tv cam)all about their animals and what they learned. So all this week I have been at the school helping Dylan's class get prepared for their presentations. Dylan's group researched the praying mantis. Here he is with one of his friends that was also in his group in their costumes they created:

Here is the rest of his group an ant, a Chinese praying mantis, a baby praying mantis and a male and female praying mantis:

After their presentation they hung their costume and back ground and their info charts in the hall for the other classes at their school to see:

All the groups did a great job and were so cute to watch.

Basketball

Basketball season started before the holidays but we took a break. Well last week we got back to practice and had a game last Saturday. Here a few pictures. JT catching an inbounds pass:

I was trying to take the picture of him shooting, but my camera delayed so I got this picture of him celebrating after he scored. :

Emily is also playing:

Look at that concentration as she dribbles:

Then here is Dylan. I am the coach of his team. Here he is intercepting the pass:

He is #45 with the white shirt, look at that follow through:

We have just 4 weeks left after this weekend and we will be done. Then it is back to baseball!

JT is 9!!!!!!!

On January 11 my oldest little angel turned 9. It is hard to believe it has been 9 years. I love him so much and love who he is growing up to be. He is such a sweet, compassionate, caring individual. On Friday January 9 he had his birthday party at the house. We had the mad science company come out and give a show since JT loves science. It was such a neat presentation. Also I dropped off one of the cards I made to Rosalies Bakery and she did an awesome job as usual:

The lady who did the science show was great. She was full on energy and actually kept the kids attention the whole time:
She talked about many different things, I can't even remember them all but here she is talking about gravity and centrifugal force:

Here is JT blowing air all the way to the people in the back row:

The kids all watching quietly, hard to believe if you have been here 15 minutes before the show started as the kid had all been running around wild:

Here she is letting them taste a burp:

And teaching them how to wash up with no water:

Here is the laser light show where she taught them the difference in light:

Then at the end she showed them how movies make their fog and they had a laser light dance off, when the laser beam landed on them they had to dance:

After all of that they all got to make their own slime to take home. They could make it in white, green or purple:

She also brought a cotton candy machine so while she whipped them up some cotton candy we got the cake ready:

Here is JT trying to blow out his trick candles:

Everyone had a great time. This was one of the most fun parties we have done. I have been at the school helping out this week and everyday I had a kid say how much they loved that party. The sad part though is I video taped a lot of this and then on Saturday I took the video camera to the kids basketball game and I videoed at JTs game and we went straight to Emily's game, but when I went to record it said the disc was dirty or scratched. I thought how could this be when we hadn't opened it since we used it, but I took it out to try to clean it and it gives me the same error every time. So I am afraid I might have lost the dvd as I haven't even finalized it yet and it won't let me, so sad!

More Cards!

Here are a few of the recent things I have done. I made JT's 9th birthday invites. He had a mad science themed party. I made 36 of these crazy things:

This weekend we have 3 birthday parties to go to (2 of them are the same party for my niece and nephew) and here is the cards I made for our friend's son who is turning 5:
Here is the same layout but for my niece who is also turned 5:

And this one for my nephew who turned 2:

While I am on the subject of birthdays, I need to wish several important people a happy birthday who I missed during my blogging break. Ken was on the 1st. My nephew Linus turned 2 on the 8, my niece Saliah turned 5 on the 10, JT turned 9 on the 11 and my son's friend Matthew a happy early birthday on 19 as well as a happy early birthday to my father in law and Todd's uncle Mike and Sarah all on the 24 and also early birthday wishes to Vanessa on the 26!
