Bye bye Elementary school

This is JT's last year in elementary school. So as a 5th grader he got to do a few extra things to make his last year memorable. One of the things is the 5th grade Science teacher put together a trip to Natural Bridge Caverns on a Saturday afternoon for those who could go. They rode a bus up there and Todd and I with the other 2 kids met them there. After first getting off the bus they had a picnic lunch:

Then it was time to get a brief explanation of the area, before going inside:

It was really neat to see all the different formations as we made our way down the cavern:

All the different "rooms" were neat to see:

As we made our way back up and out. It was a lot of walking:

After the tour of the caverns, each kid got a bag of dirt with gems and they got to mine for their gems, here is JT:

Emily getting some little gems out:

Dylan:

We had never been, as many times as we have passed it going to and from that direction, glad we got to experience this and glad he got to have fun with his classmates.

Since we were already almost there we just kept JT and drove on into San Antonio for the night. We stayed at the Emily Morgan so after getting settled in we walked to the river walk and went and had dinner at Casa Rio:

We even got a table by the river. Emily wasn't happy, she didn't want to eat here:

Dylan was happy though:

After dinner we headed back towards the hotel and decided to try out the Guinness World Records as we have done the wax museum and the Ripley's Believe or Not, but never been here:

JT has a ways to go to be tallest man:

Some of the quizzes:

It was a neat interactive place, and we enjoyed it. We also did the Tomb Riders game. The next morning, we stopped in front of the Alamo on our way to breakfast:

It was a short little trip, but nice to get away and do something different for the weekend.

The schools booster club gave the 5th graders a little going away party one afternoon. They paid for them all to go skating and have pizza for lunch:

JT skating with some of his friends:

Some of the 5th graders and 5th grade teachers doing the Cha-Cha slide:

It's hard to believe that in the fall my oldest will be in junior high, but he had a wonderful time in elementary school!
